dc.description.abstract | Nchini Tanzania viazi mviringo ni zao muhimu kwa chakula na biashara. Kwa uzalishaji, viazi mviringo ni zao la tatu baada ya mahindi na mpunga. Zao hili ni muhimu kwa usalama wachakula, kuboresha lishe, ajira na kuongeza kipato. Nchini Tanzania matumizi ya viazi mviringo yanaongezeka kwa kasi vijijini na mijini kutokana na kuongezeka kwa idadi ya watu na mahitaji ya vyakula vitokanavyo na viazi mviringo. Soko lake la uhakika ni kwenye miji mikuu kama Dares Salaam, Mwanza na Dodoma. Masoko ya nje pia yameendelea kuongezeka. Viazi mviringo au Viazi Ulaya ni zao ambalo la asili, pia zao hili ni miongoni mwa mazao jamii ya mzizi (tuberous crop) na linalodumu, kwa jina la kitalaam linaitwa Solanum tuberosum. Neno “Kiazi” linatokana na maana ya mmea ambao una aina “tuber” yaani chenyewe. Viazi mviringo ni zao muhimu la chakula na biashara katika nchi nyingi zinazoendelea. Viazi hukomaa katika kipindi cha miezi mitatu hadi mitano. Viazi mviringo vina virutubisho vingi mfano vitamin, protin, madini na maji. | en_US |
